If you're looking for blues, I would suggest learning the blues pentatonic minor and the pentatonic major scale, plus 7th and 9th chords.

For listening, I would go with BB King, Freddie King, Albert King, Peter Green, Mike Bloomfield, Albert Collins, T-Bone Walker. If you want more of the blues-rock feel you could also listen to Hendrix and SRV.

For improvising, you really need to just practice a lot and listen to a lot of different artists. I was able to learn how to improvise through playing around with the scale until I found what I thought sounded good.
