I think that it starts when we are small. Me, being a 16-year-old, totally sees this stuff going on. I'd never even heard of Beethoven or Bach until I was13 and started playing the Viola. Now, I'm going on advanced, and as my love for playing grows, my love for classical grows. I think the truth is, we like what we've heard when we are small. And, for most, it's not classical. It definitely wasn't for me. Playing it helps. But, come on, the generation of technology. Who wants to listen to something you can't relate to when you have all this new rock and pop and screamo at your fingertips? And, once you start liking those, it's seriously hard to sit still through a classical piece. Therefor, you like what you listen to pretty much.
