Default All Hope Is Gone - Slipknot

All Hope Is Gone is the fourth studio album by the alternative metal band Slipknot. It was released on August 20, 2008. The album was recorded in Slipknot's home state of Iowa. The album appeared very high on the Billboard 200 and has recieved good feedback by a lot of critics. The band members are Corey Taylor (vocals), Mick Thompson (guitar), Jim Root (guitar), Paul Gray (bass guitar), Joey Jordison (drums), Shawn Crahan (custon percussion), Chris Fehn (custom percussion), Sid Wilson (turntables, keyboards), and Craig Jones (samples, media). Joey Jordison stated: "I have to say that the band is at its peak; everyone—I mean everyone—is now completely involved in the writing process, and it's a beautiful thing." Here is the track listing:
    • Execute
    • Gematria
    • Sulfur
    • Psychosocial
    • Dead Memories
    • Vendetta
    • Butcher's Hook
    • Gehenna
    • This Cold Black
    • Wherein Lies Continue
    • Snuff
    • Child of Burning Time
    • Vermillion Pt. 2
    • Til We Die
    • All Hope Is Gone

Slipknot has come out with for studio albums and they have been around a while, and I can honestly say that at the moment, All Hope Is Gone is my favorite album by them. There's a lot of heavy stuff in this album, but it also shows Slipknot's softer music such as the song "Snuff". Great album, I recommend it.

Can't say I'm a big Slipknot fan, but well done review Dyllon, I am almost tempted to get this album.

So well written that you almost tempted LG to get the album Dyllon, very nice!

I'm not much of a Slipknot fan, although I do kind of like the songs Psychosocial, and Dead Memories. Both have received a lot of play on my satellite station. I prefer Cory Taylor in Stone Sour (where he's doing more actual singing, and not donning a mask ). Oh, and I was really surprised by that first song/video "Snuff." It sounded more like a Stone Sour song than something by Slipknot! Wow.

I was pleasantly surprised by this effort, but not enough to get me to listen to enjoy it fully though, sorry.

I just thought I'd post this. It's Corey Taylor recording Snuff. You can really tell how great his voice is.

i agree. i love this album, however some of my friends complain it's not as good as their others. my favourite track is snuff, it has good lyrics and corey's voice is amazing. also psychosocial has been getting many complaints down my end, some of them are saying that they don't like the chorus, however i think it's really catchy and edgy, and somewhat gives you a breather from the heavy stuff, i like the contrast a lot, well thats how i think of it :P. but yeah, the songs of that album are epic live too.

    Good Album.

Not their best I think Vol.3 was better but this is a good album.

If you're interested, I have recently reviewed Stone Sour's latest offering on my blog:

Decent album, I enjoyed a few songs off it, Psychosocial, Dead Memories, Sulfur, Snuff, but I still think it fell short of Vol. 3. There seemed (at least to me) to be alot more experimentation on Vol. 3 which I really enjoyed.

I personally think this album is a good cure for insomnia. I'm not a huge Slipknot fan but they have way better efforts.
