    Default Jerry Cantrell/Degradation Trip

    Degradation Trip

    Jerry Cantrell
    Hard Rock/Grunge
    2002

This is Jerry Cantrell's 2nd album and saying that you can see that he really matured as a solo artist compared to his debut.
This sounds more like Alice in Chains which shows that Cantrell was and is the true driving force behind Alice in Chains.
You get the same odd time signatures you got from AIC in this amazing album.

Cantrell locked himself in his house for 3-4 months never going outside, ordered out for food, barely bathed, and went insane. You can hear his insanity come out in the music and his lyrics.
This is an amazing album in my mind. It shows that Cantrell is an even more important piece of Alice In Chains then Layne was (sorry to say that). Layne was great and had a powerfull voice and was an essential piece to AIC, but Jerry Cantrell is THE driving force behind AIC. This album shows that even with out AIC behind him he can still kick major ***. Check it out. It shows how much of a great musician Cantrell really is.

Nice review... I love Cantrell and I tried to get into this album but I couldn't... I guess I'll try again!!!

Can you explain more about the 3-4 month period??? I've never heard about that one...

    sure haha

PM: The rumors of you locking yourself away until you came up with a certain number of songs.

JC: Yeah, generally when I write, I pretty much write. It's not a whole real different thing either.

    PM: Real solitary?

JC: I didn't like, put myself in a prison cell (laughs). I was in a house in the Cascade Mountains with a pond with rainbow trout in the backyard and a couple of dogs and some cats so, it was no ****ing prison cell.

I actually really liked this album, it had little more to offer IMO than boggy depot. have you noticed the two different album covers?

this one is a trip too.

I like this album a lot. I'm a big Cantrell fan...I like the way he thinks, sings, and plays. I only recently got this album...it was always a bit pricey since it's a double album. I ended up getting a great deal on it (actually a steal! sorry Jerry). I did purchase Boggy Depot though, and I think it was a soild album too.
