Artist: The Union Underground
Album: ...An Education in Rebellion
Release Date: July 18, 2000
The Union Underground is not widely heard at all. This band features some amazing, hard hitting music that delivers straight to your stomach. One of my favorite albums I ever bought from a band that I havnt heard much of. I heard "Turn Me On Mr. DeadMan" and I liked it so I went out and bought the CD. Definitely worth the money. All the songs are good, I just wish they had another CD. Unfortunately, the band broke up after this album.
...An Education In Rebellion - This song is basically a filler. Its kind of an intro of the CD to expose the band of their unique side.
Drivel - This song is about drugs to say the least. "Say that you never wanna get high man, There's nothin' better, give it a try man, Never learn I'm so in love with this" Thats how the song ends with that line. This song has a good guitar riff, its like a fun riff. Still a great song.
South Texas Death Ride - I really do like this song. I personally love the guitar in this song. The vocals are awesome as always. Like I said I might sympathize, But why must you **** with these things I believe, Man it's guilt by association" That is my favorite line through the song. Its a fun song.
Turn Me On "Mr. Deadman" - I love this song. Its about the lead singer's view of "rock-stars" today. He thinks that instead of making music as a lifestyle, its a career. They do it for the money and the fame, not the rewards. "All the simple minds, They adore, what a bore how they stand in line" Talking about the fans as simple mines and how they adore people for no reason lol. This song is just great.
Until You Crack - Its about drugs, heroin in particular. Just how lost people get and how they cant possibly recover from how far away from everyone (family, friends) they get. "I turned you on to what they call the ****in' devil's son,I kiss you all the feeble and the damage done," I love this song. Everything about it just screams.
Killing The Fly - Just how people get addicted to drugs. I think its how people ***** and moan about how they get addicted and want sympathy for it but how you shouldnt feel sorry for people who cant control themselves to something. I get a kick outta this, Watch, you ball like a *****, You'll get it you'll get it, You'll get yours mother****er ain't no lie" This song is also great. Heavy all around.
Natural High - I think this song is just about being true and good to yourself. Just making yourself feel good. Be real, dont make yourself out to be something great but be happy that you are who you are. I'm not your savior no ****in' lie, I'd kill myself to stay alive, Forget the future regret the past, No present tense is gonna last" Because in the end, it dosnt matter what you do. You live, you die. Be happy for what you are, dont ***** and complain for **** your not.
Revolution Man - This song is about the death of John Lennon. Possibly my favorite song of this album. ****ing beautiful. The Beatles wrote a song called "Revolution" which is where the Revolution comes into the play in the title. This song is awesome, slow and soft intro and kicks in with teeth grinding vocals and just emotional instrumentals. Great. "One last time your medicine, Swallow hard and take it in, Lucy's in the sky again, Trippin' on her diamonds." Just further proves the John Lennon theory.
Trip With Jesus - I think song is just the struggle with himself he has with drugs. Just how he HATES having to shoot up but its the only thing that makes him feel better. Its a vicious cycle, powerful song. I love this song. Probably my second favorite on this album.
It's such a shame that it is this way, I'm a junkie God is gay, Hate to bleed but it heals my pain, Whatever man never never never never" All around, great heavy song.
Bitter - I think this song is about how shitty people think the world is, and how sad and twisted people are but we control the world. We are the environment we create. This song is awesome. The beginning is actually creepy. Very trippy at first. "All I see in apathy, In this world I wont be" The voice sounds like something youd see out of a scary movie. Its ****ing weird. I love the song though. Very good, very real.
The Friend Song - I love the guitar in this song. Its very upbeat and sounds pretty grungy vocally, reminds me of Nirvana to be honest and I really dont know why. Just a fun song to jam to, its pretty good.
This band is very strong lyrically and I feel like I connect to them. I wont go into personal detail but I feel their pain in a way. I personally think this album is a great driving album or for partys. This cd really did help me come out of a dark time.

I really think band had what it takes to do good. Its a shame they broke up after one album. Such great potential and they knew what to do. Great energy, I really wish I could see them live, I bet the crowd would just be crazy. They were invited to Ozzfest in 2001. I try to spread the word of them, theyre great. I hope you enjoy them to.
