Thread: where to get tickets for concerts

Default where to get tickets for concerts

What are the best sites where I can get good concert tickets? I tried a number of sites so far, but was not very satisfied, price or selection-wise. Any suggestions or input would be appreciated.

it really depends. any big venue you go to I.E. metallica at so and so convention center or Colosseum tickets are going to be expensive no matter what, and if you get cheaper tickets they will start getting further and further away from the band the cheaper they get. your best bet is to know when your favorite band is going on tour and get the tickets as quickly as possible after they hit the market because after that the prices will get higher and higher the less tickets they have and the closer the concert gets. smaller venues like local bar and clubs will generally be cheaper but less tickets. as for where to buy them try here

thanks for the suggestion. ticket sellers online seem like they have good seats, but at much higher prices. I wonder if there are any that are different and offer a good deal.

    Default online sellers

Well, I will venture my own reasoning. I tried and am now staying away from big names in the seller market such as Ticketmaster and Stubhub. I'm thinking of using a relative newcomer like TicketRight, since they will (have to) cater to customers more with special deals, etc, as they have to capture a share of the market. Any thoughts on this?

I am not sure Concert Lover, things are so complicated now, when I wanted to buy tickets back in the day you just went to the coliseum box office and lined up, then they added a few other outlets to reduce the crowds lining up. The new way of selling tickets, I have never used it myself, I can't do live concerts anymore, but from what I've heard there is some corruption/gouging taking place in these large distributors. I don't know what else to say...

I say give it a try, can't hurt, just make sure you know where your seat is before you buy it.

I did go ahead and gave it a try for Bruce Springsteen on TicketRight. Not much difference in terms of seat selection (there are good seats and not so good seats), but they had a special discount. I don't know how they can afford 10% off, but it was all good as far as I'm concerned

    Default best seats

There is no doubt that the best seats are sold online since artists and their managers get a cut of these so-called "premium seats" sales. So I have been trying a number of online sites to find good tickets. I don't see much difference among them in terms of prices; so if some site like Ticketright is offering a special 10% off, they probably would be the cheapest.

Britney Spears played here last night and the only seats left were the $500.00 premium ones,,,and that is too much. (Also considering I don't really like her music and she is notorious for lip-syncing some songs at her concerts...)

I agree, just think how many other things you could buy with that money, a new laptop, maybe 30 CD's/DVD's, a couple of cases of fine Cabernet Sauvignon, 6 months supply of beer, upgrade your PC,,,,a new TV,,,new speakers...I'll stop now but the list is quite endless for me anyway...

I guess fans feel pretty passionate about their favorite artists more than you give them credit for.

$50-$75 is about all I would pay to see any band play live, and I am a passionate fan just not insane enough to spend $500 bucks to watch Britney lip-sync through a concert.

Is it the ticket price or are you saying that because it is Britney who is giving the concert in this case? obviously Britney might not be your favorite artist (to put it lightly), but what if this was your one and only chance to watch AC/DC, Metallica or Led Zeppelin? then perhaps you wouldn't care so much about the price?

That might be the exception, but regardless I have seen almost every band I like over the last 35 years, so there aren't many left on my list. And I just feel the prices some of these artists are charging are more than I would pay.

I would have to really think about who I would be willing to pay $500 to go see in concert.
