I would say with out a doubt, hands down the Doors. don't get me wrong, I love the who, but the doors steal this one. almost an unfair comparison to me. The Doors are just so deep I can't help but feel touched by their lyrics when i listen to them. anybody who disagrees with me drop a hit of acid and listen to american prayer (although the first step is not needed, it just makes it fun!) and songs like teenage wasteland make me want to get footloose.

Red face Please don't get with started on American Prayer!

I am so unimpressed with American Prayer - I'd rather listen to their other 6 studio albums.

in the musical aspect of the album sucked, I see right through that into the man that wrote all those poems. you ( or at least I) get a glimpse of where he was coming from and his outlook on life. Jim Morrison is one of the most interesting people that I can think of. did you hear the story behind american prayer, cp/m user?

It's actually one of the few things I have on CD (American Prayer), I haven't listened to it since I first got that album (when it came out on CD), and all my other Doors albums are on something called Tape! :-o So I probably should be listening to it again and concentrating on the words eather than the Accompanied music by the Doors! :-o

I guess it's the poetry which throws me right off - I probably appreciate the poetry of Paul Simon more than Jim Morrison - though the songs he put some poetry to were Interesting.

My mother always told me to say something good about the dead.

Jim's dead. Good.

Very difficult to decide on this one....I enjoy both bands so much....I'm going to say The Doors because I heard of them before I heard of The Who.

I said "The Doors" and for me this was easy. I think "The Who" are overrated. Yeah I said it. Jim Morrison was one of the best front men of any band that has ever lived. Roger Daltry just has a voice, not the presence. Yeah he was crazy but, that's not all presence is about. "The Doors" had such a unique sound and were able to make an American band of this type stand out, which was not easy at all in the 60's and 70's, which was mainly dominated by the UK (and rightly so ).

Their music hit all bases, blues, jazz, heavy metal, progressive, just everything. This is something that "The Who" did not accomplish. "The Who" in my opinion had like one or two good albums and then everything else sounded similar to these albums. I don't know why I was never really into them.

I have to disagree GOTM, I like Who's Next and Quadrophenia better than any of the Doors albums, to be honest although I respect both bands neither ones were favorites of mine when they first came out or all these years later.

GOTM are you alright in the head?

good albums by The Who: The Who Sings My Generation, A Quick One (Happy Jack), The Who Sell Out, Tommy, Live at Leeds, Who's Next, Quadrophenia, Live at the Isle of Wight Festival 1970

good albums by The Doors: The Doors, Morrisson Hotel, L.A. Woman

I'm still impartial to which one's better, and The Who obviously had more time to record, just trying to defend a great band
