I went with Jimi Hendrix, although I'm not sure if they should be compared... I think that Hendrix was more innovative and unique. I'm going with possibly the greatest guitarist of all time...

I have to go with the Rolling Stones

Jimi was all about guitar, he had great tunes, but when people look back, its all about his tone, his pickups (both of which I know a bit about)....

But c'mon, this has to go to the Stones by default, there's really no comparison.

If you compared Guitar Tone, well...Jimi Wins!

(Jimi's White Strat: Bill Lawrence Custom designed pickups, custom wiring, Bill is the only one of 3 people left alive that knows what was done to it)

Jimi in the studio always used a custom cable by Bill, that ways only 3' long.

My good friend Bill,.....Let's all celebrate Bill's 79th birthday on March 24, 2010

He made pickups for Dimebag, Albert Lee, Chet Atkins, Fender, Gibson, Dean, He was so important to instrument history, everyone should know his name.

My main bass has BL J45's, my main gtr has BL200's, my new GTR is getting custom BL500's.....similar to Dimebag's, but with a little twist
.

the Stones were probably better musically, but Hendrix appeals to me more.

Weeeell Jimmi is obviously a better guitarist, but as for the rest of his band I'm not so sure. Stones may have him beat in the overall bands quality, but Jimmi's guitar appeals to me, so I vote Hendrix.

I don't think you can really compare a pop band with a group built around a guitarists flamboyancy. Hendrix for me!

You're crazy to pick The Stones against Hendrix.

I agree that the comparison isn't the best. I voted for Hendrix, mostly because I know his stuff better, and I do love it a lot.

I see people comparing Rolling Stones as a whole to just Jimi Hendrix. The question was comparing the stones to the experience. if you compare each member of the groups, theres just no question that jimi takes it.
Jimi Hendrix > Mick Jagger
Jimi Hendrix > Keith Richards
Noel Redding > Ronnie Wood
Mitch Mitchell > Charlie Watts
