I remember hearing the singer in one of the Jesus Christ Superstar plays, and his range, and voice was amazing.

Default Smoke on the Water

I’m lovin’ the band Deep Purple. They have a pretty classic rock sound and they’re fronted by Smoke on the Water’s Ian Gillan. Remember that song? He’s even got a youtube vid up where he chats it up. Long live classic rock! YouTube - Ian Gillan - One Eye To Morocco

If you like Smoke on the Water, you should definitely check out some of their other stuff. Machine Head and In Rock are great places to start.

I have their whole early discography, with the original line-up before Gillian left.

"Who Do We Think We Are" was a pretty decent album.

"Child In Time" is one of my favorite songs. It amazes me everytime I listen to it. Love the guitar solo. I like Smoke on the Water too, but I've heard it so much. They play that song everywhere and I have kinda burned out on it over the years. And kinda the same with "Highway Star", especially since I heard they put it on Guitar Hero.

Yeah it's me waking the dead again.

Deep Purple did some really good albums, although Machine Head is my favorite "In Rock" is a good record as well. I have the remastered version with the bonus tracks. Speedking is a fun song, and Child in Time is my favorite but there isn't a bad song on the album.

I'm a big fan of In Rock. And Machine Head too, that's a perfect rock album.

My parents bought this on cassette, I assume when it was a new release. I grew up with that, Golden Earring's Moontan, McCartney's RAM, and Sabbath's Pananoid, on cassette, sitting around in the living room. I still love all four.
