Blackmore is god. Highway Star, Burn, Space Truckin, Smoke on the Water, just a genius with his improv, his riffs were amazing, his solos great. Better then Page. Paice is probably the most overlooked drummer from that time, I find him to be a better drummer then Moon and Bonham.

I think It was the Who, Deep Purlpe and Sabbath (tied), then Zeppelin (think their lyrics are horrible except for Stairway and the Immigrant song.)

Thanks for stopping by Mud,,,I didn't think you liked Purple...lol.

Got this album a few days ago and can't wait to play it. Jon Lord's Concerto for Group and Orchestra, there are two versions, there is another one that has two more songs but I haven't been able to find it, but this one will do fine for now.

What about Ten Years Gone, The Rain Song, Fool In The Rain, Kashmir (Very good imagery), No Quarter (Darkness and great imagery) and The Battle Of Evermore just to name a few...

"Then as it was, then again it will be.
And though the course may change sometimes
Rivers always reach the sea
Blind stars of fortune, each have several rays
On the wings of maybe, down in birds of prey
Kind of makes me feel sometimes, didn't have to grow
But as the eagle leaves the nest, its got so far to go..."

But back to Deep Purple. They're awesome...

I just found my copy of Machine Head yesterday, I guess it's time to give it a play!

Made in Japan is THE best album ever, ever made. That album gives me multiple eargasms.

Agreed, I love a lot of Zep lyrics. With all respect to Deep Purple, there's something to think about there with Zep. I don't get that too much from DP.

Sorry, you're right, back OT!

Ian Paice and his fearsome muttonchops. I can't find a good pic of them. I know he had some though.
