If you're already familiar with Rissi Palmer (
www.rissipalmer.com) then you know that she's the first African-American Female Country artist to chart three singles on the Billboard charts ("Country Girl", "Hold On To Me", and "No Air") as well as charting her “No Air” video on cmt.com - check it out here . She was an avid singer as a child singing in the gospel choir at her church……she drew her inspiration from the Patsy Cline records that her mother, (who she lost at the tender age of 7), listened to day in and day out. Then, after seeing Charley Pride perform at the Grand Ole' Opry, she was convinced that she could very well accomplish anything, including becoming the first Female African-American Country star that she is fast becoming. Her crowning moment when she realized this dream was indeed becoming a reality was when she had her debut performance at the Grand Ole Opry…..she has now performed at the Opry 8 times, and most recently with Charley Pride.
When she was 10 she set her mind to this goal and wrote her future Grammy acceptance speech that has been pressed between the pages inside her bible ever since. My sincere hope is that the African-American Community will rally around her inevitable hurdles on the road to success, and support and celebrate her amazing achievements so that we will all be a proud part of her success when she gets to read that Grammy acceptance speech out loud in the year 2009!!!
