MOST people don't like country music! What MOST people who listen to that genre of music really like is that awful Memphis City Music that they call "Country and Western" which is not country music at all!

When Dolly Parton, Amy Grant and Garth Brooks switched to REAL country music, PEOPLE STOPPED BUYING THEIR RECORDINGS!!!!!!!!!!!

Today, whether it is Jazz, Blues, Rock, Country, and even Reggae, what they are selling now is merely "disco" music. That is what people are buying now! Electric guitars WITH beating on the drums as if the drum is not a musical instrument, neurotic music that runs like the sound of a cement mixer, that is what people today are buying! That kind of music which sells is called "disco Jazz", "disco Blues", "disco Rock", and "disco Country Western".

That does not mean that real country cannot use drums or electric guitars or electric violins (I love electric violins, especially when Suzy Hanson plays and DANCES AT THE SAME TIME her renditions of latin Jazz!!!!). It's just that in real country, they actually know how to play the instruments properly and try to make real music that is not neurotic and psychosomatic.

By the way, REAL disco did not last more than two years, because you can DANCE to disco buy you cannot LISTEN to it! Disco drives people crazy having to merely LISTEN to it! Real disco was from 1978 to 1980 only, then it died! But it still is the basis for much of, if not almost all of, today's modern popular music, it's just that it is not pure disco! I've even heard "disco symphony" music for christ's sake!!!!!

At least we can UNDERSTAND the words, unlike some of that other crap they call music!!
And, country music is songs about life, and love.

What's not to like. I love the melody, and the stories that the songs tell...and Taylor & Carrie are by no means what I call country music. So that probably explains why you like them.

I live on the bayou and that is all we listen to, it has a good beat, its fun to sing along with and it is great when your drunk to dance to. All together it makes for a really great night.

There is pop country, like the two artists you mentioned, folk music, blue grass, traditional country, modern country...and many other forms that all sound extremly different. I even like some kinds of country and not others. But I can see why it would all sound similar to someone who doesn't like most country music, I used to be like that too...until I found country I liked.
