...near our house with loud music.. They stand around swearing. They have s.. They are polluters that not only throw beer cans and whatever else in our yard but also have quite the pile going on just down the street. (beer can boxes, beer cans, condoms, etc.) I have called the police. Other neighbors have called the police but they never seem to be able to catch them. Should I go confront them my self and tell them to leave?
This has been going on for almost 2 years or more. I am at my wit's end. I really want them gone.
They seem to be hanging around at 10pm or just after. But sometimes they are there in the afternoon or early evening. It's not all that consistent.
I found out that this kid's mom and stepdad aren't home at night. I heard someone knocking loudly on their door. I assume it was the police.
Thank you John W. I will do that. Enough is enough with these losers. Believe me, they are losers. Twenty somethings. Do nothings. One works at a grocery store bagging groceries.
I know times are tough but with their attitudes and what they do with kids across the street (young girls). It's unacceptable.
I have spoken with his mother once. His stepdad is abusive. The police have been called there because of the abuse.
I think I might try speaking with the kid who lives next door first. He might be reasonable but he is mentally retarded. He is unable to keep a job and his mom supports him. He swears and is loud but seems to be somewhat nice. I don't think he can help what he does or says.
I can definitely round up our neighbors because they have approached my husband about the problem.

check your county ordinances, if there is a noise ordinance, then write a letter of neighbour of your complaint, mail it so they have to sign for it...proof they got it
then when you have proof of delivery, and a copy of your letter of complaint.......call the police again
show them your letter and proof of delivery then they can talk to them whether the offence is taking place or not and warn them of possible fines, etc if they are called back again.
I live in Ga. and did this concerning barking dogs and it worked.......ps when the cops came back the next time and rang neighbours door she answered door with a gun in her hand.......big mistake
so don't approach them yourself.......you never know

I assume you have spoken with his parents? You can get a restraining order. Talk with the Mayor. Form a neighborhood watch. If you are tough enough you can tell them to leave, but it will have more impression if you gather a bunch of neighbors to go out there en masse.

Videotape everything they do in or around your yard...go out and buy a noise dosimeter and measure the volume of sound that they generate...Most if not all municipalities have noise ordinances.
Then when the police are called, you have evidence, and it's admissable in court if they're on the public right of way.
