Smile The Springfields

The Springfields formed in 1960 and went til 1963 when Dusty Springfield decided to leave the group for a successful solo career.

The group compromised of:

* Dusty Springfield
* Tom Springfield
* Tim Feild who was later replaced with Mike Hurst - which brought more success to the group.

The only two songs I know The Springfields well for are:

* Island of Dreams and;
* Silver Threads and Golden Needles

Both excellent songs.

Here they are!

Missed this one, sorry CP/M,,,I know Dusty Springfield but can't remember her in the band you mentioned, just as a solo artist. Not one of my favorites, but she did a couple of songs that were good, can't think of them right now and don't want to cheat and use wikki....

I wasn't familiar with this group either until I started listening to this radio station which were playing Springfield Songs - so I mightn't have started to hear their stuff until 2002/3 perhaps. Like yourself I'm not a huge fan of Dusty Springfield, there are probably one or two songs (Windmills of your Mind & Going Back I don't mind) from her that I like - but her solo career is a lot different from her period she had with the Springfields, and I seem to enjoy their music a little bit more!
After the Springfields broke up, Tom Springfield I know wrote songs for the Seekers and was largely responcible for a number of their Worldwide hits and becomming such a popular band in the UK!
