Default Isn't it sad?

Most music today is completely horrible. Not all music, but most music. It makes it very difficult for a young musician, like me, to have any hope of ever making it in the music industry. Music is all I have and all I want to do with my life, but if the world will no longer accept certain types of music. If I don't play the type of music that is on the radio, I probably will never have success with my guitar.

My guitar teacher says that my friend and I are both amazing at our instruments. He tells us that we will make it in the music industry, but he's too old and doesn't realize what kind of music is played on the radio.

After my last year of high school, I'm going to a community college and then going to The Musician's Institute of Technology in Hollywood, Los Angeles. Hopefully I can create something as good and unique as lets say, Beethoven.

The other day, I went with my sister to see Twilight and I was completely sceptical, because I thought it was just some chick movie with strange romance, but when I heard Claire De Lune and Bella's Lullaby it almost brought tears to my eyes.

I know it's a semi-long post, but what I'm trying to say is that it's sad how messed up the Industry is these days. I believe that music that is being create now, will not be remembered such as song like Claire De Lune or Fugue and the likes. I just hope that somehow I can make NEW music that will be remembered for many years to come. I'm willing to dedicate my life to music and hopefully, one day, be known for helping bring back music that you can FEEL.

P.S. I'm definitely not saying ALL music sucks today, I'm just talking about MOST songs we hear that give us no feeling. They have no emotion to them. They won't be remembered. People are earning money off of nothing, when there are people out there who really deserve respect for what they create. And I also do not intend to make music just to be "popular".

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum. I thought this would be the best place.

It is so refreshing to see a young budding musician who is really passionate about music. I just hope you keep that passion alive, and strive to make your talents into a masterpiece like Beethoven.

Are you a classical music fan? If so, Bravo for you.

I agree, alot of today's music, not all mind you, is aimed at one thing....making a profit and that mass appeal. As a result, we are hearing alot of copycat vocalists and music duplications. This is not the type of music that stands the test of time to become a classic.

Thank you so much for sharing your views on music.

I am going to move this thread to the General Music forum for everyone to read and comment on!

Yes I am a fan of classic music.

What you said about marketability and musicians and bands sounding the same, I completely agree with. Its making it tough for talented people too earn respect they deserve.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not in it for the money, but it would be amazing to play music and live off of it. In todays music world, it will be really hard to make it. People like what they hear on the radio, and it depresses me. I'm going to have to create music that is able to change that. My idea of success is that it doesn't come from money earned, but from the ability to fill people with emotion through music.

The main problem is what people are into these days, its hard for people who could possibly be the next beethoven to even have a chance at fame.

You're right, there are a lot of people out there who love classical, but I'm not actually wanting to make classical music. I'm sure the music I write will have classic influence, but I want to create new timeless music, I just don't know how to go about it. My generation isn't loves what is on the radio, and that's what is going to make it hard to succeed.

I dont agree with that, DAC. Today has a movement in music called the independant labels and alternative music, also throw in this the experimental music. Alot of these artists are VERY talented, and making a living from pure, raw talent.

Also alot of these artists are straying from the mass marketing, by submitting their music for download. They tour and have concerts to make money. Which I think is how it should be.

You're right, I was wrong. I didn't necessarily mean that there is no talent in music today, I was just saying that it's becoming more and more difficult for the mainstream to respect these people. Especially with all the "copy cats" they are being fed.

I already know that I was born with a gift for the guitar, or at least I'm told so. My friend, who is very good at bluesy improvisation, always says he is jealous of my melodic style. But does that even matter in today's music?

It sure does matter, if you have a gift then please don't stop playing. You could be the next great guitarist and who cares about the present fads in music, after you have been around as long as I have you have seen and heard it all before. This present malaise affecting the music today will pass, just like all the others before, and then you will be ready to step up and be heard.

I love Beethoven and classical music myself.

I understnd what you are saying. But think 400 years into the future what kind of music will people be listening to? Like most modern day people don't appreciate much classical music they won't appriciate our music. But i don't think going back to classical music will help. I think people should try to create something that is totally unique. Do things that just seem plain out stupid.
