i asked my friend once about this question and he told me that black sabbath is better because they've been around longer. which is funny because they've both been around a pretty wide amount of time.
but he told me thats why he likes Black Sabbath better. it doesnt matter how long they've been around, its more about the sound.

Not much of a Tool or Black Sabbath fan but my vote goes to Black Sabbath. Tool's kinda boring to me.

i dislike both, but id say sabbath. why? sabbath came first, they started something (or are at least credited with starting something), and influenced many. tool just sorta is tool.

claiming that tool is better based on sound doesnt work because thats just personal opinion.

in a way its sorta like comparing carcass to korn, and that is just wrong.

Sabbath.

Sabbath all they way, never mind the fact that they were one of the pioneers of metal in its entirety. I'm not saying they were the first, I'm saying that they were a huge impact, in their sound, in their look, and in their feel.

But besides that, Sabbath's sound is unmistakable they aren't just another metal band, they are Black Sabbath, whether its with Ronnie Dio, or Ozzy Osbourne, you know its them, and you can just rock out.

Tool's sound, well it sounds like every other band, nothing special.
