Hey MMM, don't mean to ruffle any feathers on my third day here, just getting a feel for your forum that's all. Explain away if you like, a few of my friends are thinking of joining your site and I certainly don't want to get off on the wrong foot with you.

Ahhh,,,I'm glad you were joking, but being new here I wasn't sure. This is a nice place MMM, but the spam is everywhere! It just makes it a lot harder to find an actual comment wading through the crap, I hope eventually we can get the upper hand, even though when you remove one bleep another pops up to take their place. I look forward to exchanging ideas with you in here.

overrated bands lemme think..............
|
|
Hello guys!
First let me tell you my definition of overrated, it doesn't necessarily mean I dislike the group or band, it means they have been over praised for varios reasons.
I think the Beatles have been over praised because of their leading the front of the British music invasion in the USA. When they hit the US in the 1960's, it was like nothing anyone had seen, so people went nuts over them. But they still have talent. And most have went on to lead successful solo careers, as well.
The next band I feel is overrated/over praised is Kiss. I really liked Kiss, because they can put on one hell of a pyrotechnics show! And their stage make-up is their trademark. When they ditched the make-up they sorta went "poof" then tried to resurge with the make-up again. So Kiss is overrated due to the stage shows, and I can honestly say I really don't like their music now, but back int the 70's they were the bomb!
Lastly, a fairly new band I feel is overrated/over praised is Muse. They have a wild, wild stage performance, they can sure dazzle the audience. Oddly enough, though, they sorta sound like Radiohead, but lack something that Radiohead offers its fans. They also try to transcend too many sounds, electronica, organ, classical, acoustic, it just isn't that appealing to me. If you are going to be remembered, you have to have more to offer than just dazzling stage performance.
Im done rambling!

I forgot to add Nirvana to my list,,,I never understood the amount of hype about them, they did a few good songs, represented a subtle change in the American music scene but I didn't really find them that interesting. I think it is a tragedy about Cobain, but he should have sought some help to get over his depression, not end everything so soon in his life.

You cant overrate any band in my opinion, if people buy the albums it means ppl listen to them, so that means ppl like them... For example the beatles: see them with some perspective... They were NEW, just like elvis was... In their time, they were great, and because of that, they still are...

I have to agree with you, Oblivionofsoul, to put the "tag" on a group/artist that they are overrated is purely personal taste. If people like them, they will buy their music. The Beatles are legend! I don't dispute that fact.

Lord Grendel, it has been well documented that Kurt was suffering from agonising Stomach pains that the doctors could not diagnosis! This is the reason he started to take Heroin, and in my opinion was the catalyst for his tragic end! So the bottom line is he sought help but nobody could help him!

Hello Trent Reznor 4 President! Welcome to MuzicForums. I love that screen name
Don't hesitate to post what you think! We don't allow "flaming" only discussions
Did you know Trent Reznor actually got his break while working in the studios as a janitor. They let him use recording equipment when the studios were not in use and Reznor did all the instrumentation himself and got himself signed after he made several demos. He is actually an extremely intelligent person. Heck yea, why not....Reznor for Pres!!!
