ok not be a **** or anything but do you seriously think they would be what they are if he had not killed himself? i mean grunge is only 3 chords. i'd say a bit overrated. not that i don't like them, but i mean it's not the best stuff out there. and what with all the hot topic youth sporting the gear?

i dislike rush immensly
but c'mon! never heard of RUSH? even I cant deny the amount of influence they've had in the rock n roll community.
although i personally hate geddy lee's voice. its so ****in annoying.

anywho... i dont know if i could name 10 of the most over rated bands ever... just for fear of being cast into musical hell by blaspheming... so ima try to minimally dish my opinion out there haha.

1.) the beatles for sure are hella over rated (yes.. most would say thats absolute bullpoopy.. but i honestly dont think they are that good).

2.) another would be Black Sabbath... DONT GET ME WRONG I LOVE SABBATH! but they are not as talented as the masses would love to depict them being. MTV is a contributor to their over rated status... just my opinion

3.) Dream Theater - amazing group of artists... but i honestly dont think that because they are the most socially digestable PROG METAL band out that they are the best. As far as progressiveness goes, many bands are more versatile and much more talented. Pain of Salvation for example... loooove em. BUT DT is still way better than i could ever dream of being haha

uuuuhm.... uuuuuuuuuuuuhm..... DURAN DURAN? hahahaha. oh and MADONNA!!! plehk... waaaay over rated... :-p

all grunge bands have something like that. But Nirvana are the same no matter what Kurt did. So what, he killed himself, they really dont sound any different at all. Yes, they are Grunge/Rock but they are who they are because of Kurt Cobain when he was alive. Bands dont change because of a death of a band member. Im surprised that you would say that when you have no idea what you're implying half the time.

You're my hero, Dream Theater = Best prog metal ever. John Petrucci is probably the only guitarist i know who can have his guitar strapped above his waist and STILL look good. He also does the foot peg thing where when he does his solos he rests his guitar on his leg. Truly one of the best prog metal bands known to man.

I think Black Sabbath lost some of its talent after they were heard of from MTV. They were good before that, they didnt need to get famous by television. They're a bit overrated now, but i still enjoy listening to them every once in a while.
