I read about this on UG. He just got too caught up with other projects. At least DT's going to continue without him

I think the main reason he departed is due to his new stint with A7X. And really I don't blame him, although Dream Theater is the better band, the ammount of money he'll make as part of A7X will be huge.

i'm just hoping he won't be in it for JUST the money. Sure the money would be great, but i hope his talent will last just like it did in Dream Theater. Which im positive it will.

Very true. And at least he went to a great band instead of stepping down to a lower ranked band. A7X is great, Portnoy is great. We can only hope that Dream Theater will find someone great; which of course, im sure they will. Only time can tell.
Until then, things are going to rough.
