on the radio, basically if you hear a song ten too many times, you begin to grow a hate for it, some may say its because they get annoyed with hearing the same song over and over that they dont want to be hearing it anymore. i think its just because people dont seem to think that the radio is good for bands. and if that means having to repeat songs, they get more fans. except the problem is, more times the song is played, less listeners.

Way back in the day, I wanted nothing to do with the norm. My hair was super long, I didn't dress like anyone else, and the only people I hung out with were the guys in my band(and groupies). So If I was big into a band and then they went "mainstream" I saw it as a sellout and wouldn't have anything to do with them. The older I get the dumber I see that I was.
Some people just want to be rebellious and hate anything that other people like. I love Shinedown and lately they've been playing on the "Top 40" stations, but I don't hate them for that. So what if other people start to like them? If you like a band you should wish the best for them, and be proud of their success.
People don't like when their favorites bands are played on the radio because they are considered mainstream. I, for one, would hate to listen on the radio one of my fav bands playing... because then they become famous and love by idiotic people, also the band would start to just care about the money. Also it would be horrible to listen to the same song over and over and played by alot of people... it doesn't become as special anymore.

Couldn't say it better, overuse of music is amazingly annoying. Any Green Day songs is a great example of an overplayed song on the radio. I remember hearing Boulevard of Broken Dreams 5 times in an hour one time a couple years back.

This sums it up for me too.
I agree that Radio Stations do play the same songs over and over, But they don't force you to sit and listen to their station. I love tons of popular bands who I assume get tons of airplay. I just don't listen to the radio, so I never hear the song over and over and over unless I choose to.
Its because they play it to many times
A staition near me just keeps playin a steealy dan song but although its annoying it wont make me hate the song, I wait a month and boom I want to listen to it
I think also that this effect is growing less with the new generation more and more, people may get annoyed yet it wont make them hate a song
