I honestly hate the fact that music has come down to such micro levels. As for the "fashion"... Music isn't dependent upon what you wear. I'm your typical 9-5 person who wears business clothes but that doesn't mean I'm not punk enough or metal enough. It seems everyone is so worried about the appearance and image that music is taking a back seat to clothing labels and hair products. Call me old fashioned but I care more about the music than what they or me is wearing!

I agree totally alkaline soul, I don't give a **** about the image/fashion that you are supposed to adopt to reflect your musical preferences. And there are so many genres now that it's confusing to try and figure out who belongs where and why. If I like the music/band then I don't care what classification they have, it's all about the music for me.

why do you think these trends exist? do you like them? do you follow them? what are so special about these trends?
i think emo is a good look when done right,i like it on boyz rather than girls,i dont mind it when a cute emo boy has long hair & lip rings,i dont like it when other boyz make fun of emo boyz just cuz they have long "girly" hair and a tiny body.and cuz they're jealous.

I think all the different scenes its just a way for people to find attention and / or to find a place where they are accepted.

Subculture and trand are genetically incompatible. What can i think of something that turned a way of a protest against the formed order of things into millions of $$$ for business? A great deal of true adherents dont bother standing out with their appearance, it's a way of thinking that matters. As for the rest, i dont care about fashion followers but thinking that irokez makes you punk is a sign of retardation and too bad it's too widespread nowadays.

Stupid question, but what is a irokez?

I find it funny, over here the stereotypical view of an emo is black clothes, cuts, depression etc etc. I get called it time to time cause i like black. It annoys me.
