    Default 'Try Something New' Thread

This is where you go to youtube and listen to something you don't usually listen to.

For example, if you don't normally listen to black metal, type in 'black metal bands', pick a random song to listen to, post the video here and then give your thoughts on it.

This is a good way to expose yourself to music you have never listened to before and you might find some gems you didn't think you would like!

Hope people catch on to this, it would be interesting to see what you guys think of music you don't usually listen to.

Very cool idea Pink. I'll try something I don't normally dive into, considering I listen to almost everything, i'll go with...Avant Garde Jazz, and the video I chose was...

Definitely something i'm not used to, not to say that's a bad thing. I actually kind of enjoyed it, I wish the video quality was a bit better, but I think I got the idea of the sound they were trying to pull off. I give jazz artists their props for having the talent with the instruments that they play. It's something I would love to learn to do, either the flute, jazz drums, or anything in jazz really. Saxophone, trumpet. It'd be very cool to see those types of instruments introduced into more metal genres. But that's a different topic completely. I honestly didn't mind this song too much, I think Jazz could be a fun new genre for me to dive into.

I went to the "List of reggae musicians" page on wikipedia, picked a random artist and searched it up. This is what I came up with....

I'm not sure if this is considered actual reggae or a sub-genre, but it's not bad at all. I really did not expect to like what I heard. I'm definitely gonna see what other reggae songs I can find.
