Last.Fm

As you can plainly see in my Signature(look down), i really enjoy Last.Fm, its not the fact that i can manage the songs that i've listened to. But if im listening to a song that i really like. It gives me other bands that it thinks i would like, with the whole "this band sounds like..." and all of that.

I recently just got into it, i've signed up several times but could never figure the damn thing out. I really like it now. There's so much more to it than I thought.

It's a very fun site too, especially if you like being introduced to music. I would recommend checking it out if you haven't yet. It's one of the best music sites i have ever stumbled upon.

Covers

Fortunately, there are some bands that are able to pull of doing a cover of another band. Neverlife stumbled upon a Dragonforce Cover, and i have to say i really enjoyed it. It has a lot of great moments in it.

Anyway, I think that if a band (a good band) can pull off doing a great cover like other bands dont have the capability to do, it will really bring their reps up. I enjoy great covers.

a lot of bands are able to pull off doing a better version. mayhaps you've seen the version of Master of Puppets by Apocalyptica?

YouTube - Apocalyptica - Master of Puppets

amazing job for a Metallica cover

The 70's, 80's and beyond

I realize i have a number on here about the "Oldies" but this i getting more in depth. This one is easy, basically, everything that was listened to and brought to us in the 70's have most definately been brought back. Or have never fallen in the first place.
In some time in our life, we will have listened to at least ten songs from the 50's to the 80's. Its a simple fact and matter of what your parents have in their library. Its safe to say that every child from 13 to 18, have at least listened to one album or song.

Some of us have listened to some even when we don't think we have.
Like:
Pink Floyd
Rush
Led Zeppelin
The Beach Boys
Billy Idol
Billy Joel
etc. etc.

70's music and beyond have great taste. I wish to sometime go back and listen to those songs in that exact time period.

Buckethead

I really have a lot of respect for somebody who is able to go on stage in front of thousands of people with a bucket on his head. and play guitar. i will say that he also has some of the most amazing riffs on guitar that i have ever heard. i would imagine this man would be amazing to see Live.

Still, i wonder what gave him the thought of putting a bucket on top of his head and just decided "im going to make some music that will influence a lot of other bands to be unique" which i think, and this is my opinion, it definately has brought up a lot of very unique bands like...A Rocket To The Moon and Bright Eyes. Not unique as putting something on your head and saying thats it. But unique as in, no other band has that distinct sound. Buckethead, has to be one of the highest on my group of bands that i have so much respect for.
There are others higher on the list, but Buckethead is very close to being number 1.

Overplayed Songs

Honestly, this whole entire thing about radio stations playing songs over and over again is just sad, what's worse is the bands who produced those songs get the consequences because people will seize to be amazed by the talent of some bands. if i were to put music on the radio, i would ask the radio station to let me have a say in how many times my song is play per week because maybe once or twice per week would be good enough. unlike some of these other trashy/rap bands who have their songs playing 15 or 20 times a day. i've noticed that it is usually rap artists that have their music overplayed on several radio stations. Lollipop by Lil Wayne for instance, maybe you're a fan of the song, maybe you're not, i could care less. It seems to me that this song is played and played again due to popular demand. Which also throws me over the board.

Songs being played because of popular demand is sort of biased because maybe the band being recommended to be played on the radio doesn't want their music being played on the radio, sure the radio station knows that, but honestly i dont think most of them really care, if it gets them money and track hits, i think they care less about what the artists think. one of these days, a new radio station should open itself up and play music that is good and is not overplayed and should not take recommendations from other people about what songs they should. they are the radio station, they should know what the consumer wants, and what we want to hear. if they dont have the skill and knowledge to figure that out, they obviously are not capable of running a good radio station.

one radio station i've noticed every morning has to be "The Wolf" you know that country station? they dont take any recommendations in the morning, from what i've heard, maybe they take some in the afternoons and evenings, but im going by ear on this one.

They also play some really good music that i really like, but a flaw that they have is some of the songs are overplayed a little bit which was the point i am trying to convey this whole time, if research is the reason they need, than by all means, radio stations should take more time to organize the music they play so some songs aren't overplayed, and they should play bands that have had no eligibility on the radio yet. all we have to do is wait.

ACDC's Newest Album

So, maybe its just me, but I dont have a good review OR a bad review for this album. I honestly think it's one of their albums that maybe they've tried to put a lot of work in it, but not all of it showed. It definately shows the talent they have. They have a great number of it, but the album before Black Ice, i think was able to show it a lot more. I do in fact have a few favorite songs on the album though. Like Wheels and Black Ice. Which two are great songs along with the others that are combined into the CD.

im at a loss of thought at the moment
(to be continued...)
