Thread: Temple Of The Dog

    Default Temple Of The Dog

It had to be done. Too many people are unaware of this band.

Temple Of The Dog consists of Chris Cornell (Lead Vocals), Eddie Vedder (Back up vocals), Mike McCready/Stone Gossard (Guitar), Jeff Ament (Bass) and Matt Cameron (Drums)... Temple Of The Dog released there one and only album in 1991, as a tribute to Andrew Wood, who was Chris Cornell's roommate and the lead singer of Mother Love Bone. Chris Cornell voice has never sounded better than on this self-titled album.

    Songs:

Say Hello 2 Heaven: 10/10 (Cornell hits some amazing notes at the end)
Reach Down: 8/10 (Would be better if it wasn't over 11 minutes long)
Hunger Strike: 10/10 (Cornell and Vedder go back and forth. They sound amazing together)
Times Of Trouble: 10/10 (My favorite song ever... Really gets to me)
Call Me A Dog: 10/10 (Once again, Cornell hits some really amazing notes and wrote great lyrics for this song)
Four Walled World: 10/10 (Great song... Same comments as Call Me A Dog)
Wooden Jesus: 9/10 (I'm not into Jesus, but this is still an amazing song)
Your Savior: 8.5/10 (I might've underrated this song a little bit. It's sort of repetitive)
Pushin' Forward Back: 10/10 (Has such a catchy melody... "melody")
All Night Thing: 10/10 (Has the capability to make me cry...)

I saw your post where you said that Temple Of The Dog is the only grunge supergroup that you don't own... I think you'll appreciate grunge so much more, once you hear this album. Chris Cornell really couldn't sound any better than on this album... He composed most or all of the lyrics, really powerful lyrics...

When you have the time, gives this band a try.

I'm listening to it right now and I love it.
Have a lot of Chris Cornell's music and this is absolutely one of his better musical projects !
I'm grunge ignorant at the moment, but it's getting higher and higher on my list of genres to explore more.

One for all and all for adore !

That's so exciting! I'm happy that you're starting to pay more attention to the genre because it has a lot to offer. (I sound like a spokesperson for grunge, haha)

Yeah, I know I've said this 2-3 times before, but Chris sounds AMAZING on this album. He sounds so clear, you can hear all of the little nuances in his voice.

Haha, thanks. I wasn't here for a while so I thought I'd catch up a bit...

I forgot to mention, Times Of Trouble and Say Hello 2 Heaven are the two songs that are in memory of Andrew Wood.

I now have a great copy of Temple of the Dog, so I'll check it out and share my thoughts sometime later this week.

TotD is definitely one of my favorite bands. does it seem like all of the best bands only ever have one album? hugerstrike is one of my all time favorites vedder and cornell just nail that song with sooo much emotion.

Yeah, this album is full of emotion... For some reason, Mad Season, Temple Of The Dog, Mother Love Bone... They needed more albums, although Mother Love Bone is understandable...

    Welcome back, btw...

Sounds good... I'll probably get back to your Temple comments about 2 months from now... I'm taking a trip with my gf, and then we'll get back to reality...
