Default Classical/Blues guitar

Hi, I've been trying to teach myself how to play guitar for a good 2 and a half years. My skill is kind of weak.

Mostly I'll just play metal or rock, however someone told me that if you can learn classical/jazz that you'll pretty much be able to play anything.

That being said, I was wondering if you guys could give me some advice, maybe recommend a few really good musicians for someone at my skill level (Metallica, Shadowsfall, AC/DC, blah).

I'm kind of interested in the blues too, just not really sure where to start.

Thanks,
John

Julian Bream, John Williams And Adres Segovia. Three essential classical guitarists.

I guess if you learn all the basic first position chords until you can transition through them smoothly, if you do this then it will lay out a fundamental foundation too your guitar playing.

Yea, if you're referring to the major and minor chords I actually just got them down a few months ago.

Feeling a bit out of my league though once I try to follow along with musicians like Jimi Hendrix or Liona Boyd. Holy crap she's good o.O

If you're looking for blues, I would suggest learning the blues pentatonic minor and the pentatonic major scale, plus 7th and 9th chords.

For listening, I would go with BB King, Freddie King, Albert King, Peter Green, Mike Bloomfield, Albert Collins, T-Bone Walker. If you want more of the blues-rock feel you could also listen to Hendrix and SRV.

For improvising, you really need to just practice a lot and listen to a lot of different artists. I was able to learn how to improvise through playing around with the scale until I found what I thought sounded good.

Yes hard work is key but more than anything else you have to enjoy your time while you practice . Practice is something good . T

To be accomplished at anything , it must be first and foremost on you mind constantly during the day , you wake up with it on your mind thinking about how to do this better or that better with your guitar playing .

And when you go to bed , it's the last thing on your mind as you doze off to sleep .

This has worked for millions of people including me .

Adeus e boa sorte

Sinceramente :
