I know you control your tone with the guitar, but where do you set the guitar while trying to set the amp. 10, 7, 5, any advice.
when I meant setting, I meant the guitar's volume and tone controls.

Set your volume at full blast. That way your guitar is sending your amp the best signal. As far as the other ones go, you'll want to set them to your ear. Get the best sound out of them. More often than not mine are wide open too and I use the amp controls to shape tone.....
