I am thinking about spending a lot of money for a les paul but now i saw this epoch that looks like one so is it a les paul?http://www.gibson.com/Products/GBME/Epoch/Products/Epoch%20LP/

It's a Les Paul copy.

Looks kind of a like a les paul jr.

You might consider looking at the Epiphone Les Paul:

That is their entry level model - but it is actually licensed by Gibson (they own Epiphone).
