Check out the Epiphone Prophecy series and the Brian May guitars.

Both have tone for miles, both have smooth ebony fretboards, and the May has more tonal range than any other guitar on the market.

The nice part? Either can be had for $700.

Or you can get something from the Ibanez RG series. Even cheaper than the guitars described above, not quite as good, but most of these have a floyd rose and pretty damn good pickups also. Around $300-$500

I just bought a Prophecy Les Paul with dirty fingers pickups. It is SMOKIN'! Nice finish, great neck, killer tone. I recommend it highly.

Ibanez GSA60 Anywere from $200-300 nice sound too.

If you can get past the flat neck, it's fine. I got used to a fat neck and it's a very extreme change.

I would say,Epiphone guitars.The les paul editions.Very cheap with fat tone.
