Okay our official movie thread, anything you have seen in the theater or on DVD that you want to share with us this is the place. I'll go first.
"The Mist" - Starring Thomas Jane based on a story by Stephen King, a very good supporting cast in this movie as well. I watched this on my HDTV cable box recorder last night and considering the cast and the novella by King it was adapted from I found it to be a little predictable. The characters acted almost like they came straight from the pages of a comic book in some cases, but there were some good performances as well. Special effects, not bad, nothing we haven't seen before but more than adequate in this story. Basically a mist rolls in on an isolated town after a big storm and the fun starts shortly thereafter. About 40+ people take shelter in a grocery store when they panic after inexplicable events start happening as the mist gradually moves into the town.(Anyone out there remember The Fog?) As the tension builds the group fractures into factions each claiming to know what to do and the inevitable fall out starts. The religious zealot converting the weak to her side, the analytical lawyer attracting his group using logical argument, and our Hero Thomas Jane simply trying to figure out what is going on and using common sense and courage to get out of the hopeless situation he finds himself in. I won't go into too much detail in case you want to watch it yourself, but I wasn't impressed with the ending at all, kind of ruined the movie for me anyway.
Final rating: 2/5 I'm glad I didn't rent this one.
