Default [guitar] could you suggest some good blues songs to learn to start laying the genre?

i know literally NO blues songs...but i love the soft styling of how it plays.
ive only been playing since october, so nothing TOO hard, although...i do think i can play reasonably well, so nothing too easy =P
thanks for any help!

If you want to take it a bit easy, listen to some of Muddy Water's earlier works. He was a really popular Blues musician. Try him out sometime.

www.dizzler.com - This let's you listen to a certain band's and gives you a list of songs to choose from. On the left side it also shows you other bands that are kind of similar that you might like. So they'd most likely be blues.

www.911tabs.com this will teach you how to play the song that you like.

Good luck.

I would say check out some of Robert Johnson's music- an original Delta blues man know for 12 bar blues - he did Cross Road Blues and 29 other great songs.
there are so many great names to pull from and most of the music can be found free on the Internet.
here a few more -
Henry Thomas ie Lead Belly - 9 bar progression of Howlin Wolf
Charley Patton, Son House ,Blind Willie McTell and Blind Boy Fuller - Good luck I love playing the Blues I think you will also.

I play by ear mostly so Im not very good with reading music or reading complicated guitar tabs. I DO suggest you learn how to read tabs and then try to find some Jimmy Reed tabs for starters. Jimmy Reed played more simple stuff and I learned A LOT from him by ear. Here are some of his songs. I dunno if this will help you because I cant actually tell you how to play blues. Ive never had a lesson myself. Its kind of a family thing and my Granddad and Dad played but no one taught me anything. ... but okay....anyway....

Jimmy Reed songs:

Baby What You Want Me To Do?
Hush Hush
Bright Lights Big City
Little Rain ( this is a very pretty song!)

......just try to start with Jimmy Reed. He had a very basic use of chords and whatnot. But look 4 TABS and try to learn em. Youll also love listening to his music. I also learned by listening to John Lee Hooker but he can be complicated to some ears. I learned a lot from these two fellas. xx

PS....i wouldnt suggest playing Blind Willie McTell or Robert Johnson until you get USED to playing basic blues. These guys were not as basic as it sounds but LISTEN to them anyway! Just to hear their amazing music! ....Robert Johnson was a SLIDE player so its tricky!
