Default Is it possible to love jazz but HATE the blues?

I love Miles, Basie, as well as a lot of the newer stuff by The Bad Plus, Chris Potter, and Don Byron.

I cannot stand blues music and it is sometimes ok when it is well intertwined with a good jazz number.

But I feel like perhaps I am not appreciating "where things come from." Isn't jazz based on the blues? Didn't its origins come from the blues?

I would also appreciate any websites that someone can recommend for me here. I feel very schizophrenic in how I really just do not like the standard blues beat but jazz usually moves me.

Although- I do enjoy how bands like The White Stripes, The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, and Cinderella dabble into blues riffs. For some reason I find that tolerable.

Am I wrong? Help.

its okay to love jazz and not love blues because they are fairly different in some ways, rhythm for instance. they arent particularly the same rhythm as you would think

its just like saying you like Ska but not Reggae

Talking blues pwn jazz

i think that is quite possible

but for me, i enjoy the blues, and not jazz. jazz is great music, dont get me wrong, but it's become so generic in some places, they're played in McDonalds bathrooms, hotel lobbies, and especially where I live it's ALWAYS Kenny G. So I'm just sick of it.

but blues and jazz are pretty different genres (although their origins are quite similar)

Bach wrote jazz scales into classical music long before the blues ever happened. And for you to love the blues, you got to feel it in your soul, if you can't you'll never get it.
