Hi
Years ago I heard four songs on the radio that I instantly fell in love with. I have been hunting for these songs ever since. Technically I don't know very much about music, so I don't know what exact genre this music would be, but to me it sounded like it was old (maybe 40's or 50's) jazz mixed with blues.
Unfortunately, I don't know the name of the artist or the titles of any of the songs, but I know a lot of the lyrics.
One song was about a dead guy. I think its title might be "The Thing".
Some of the lyrics are:

They call him the thing cause he's nothing but a shape
They call him the thing cause he's nothing but a shape
He's a real live jiving spirit and his replete sheets are draped

Every night you'll find him haunting his favorite dive
Every night you'll find him haunting his favorite dive
He's a grave yard ghoul
a phantom fool
but he jumps like a man alive.

He's one ghost who wouldn't stay buried to long
He says life's to dead in the graveyard man!
that's why he blows his tomb

So if you see the thing don't let it get you down
if you see the thing don't let it get you down--------------(chorus)
He's just weary of the cemetery
has to make the rounds

One of the other songs was about a lady who would go to the gas station to get high.
the lyrics go something like this:

Mayble always was a lush
ever since she was six
but now the chicks clear out of hand man
she's in an awful fix

First it was (trumpet blast) out of a can
then it was lotion used on your hands

Now for your information
she's at the filling station
getting her daily ration
of filler 66

She tried lemon extract half tonic too
switched to Fictius'? dandruff moving shampoo.

Now for your information
she's at the filling station
getting her daily ration
of filler 66

She use to have a champagne glass
Still has a champagne smile
but now that wine has done been here and left
she gets high on high test gas

tried d.d.t. but the stuff wouldn't do

here's a revelation
go to your filling station
try that new sensation
old filler 66

the third song went something like:

Lord dig those colors
make me a chocolate brown
Lord dig those colors -------------(chorus)
make me a chocolate brown

Make me know the boogey
How to jump and write
pad my narrow shoulders
and peg my trousers tight

make my talking mellow
make my walking flow
make me clap and shout
when that trumpet starts to blow, blow , blow

I'm praying
and I wonder who's paying?

make the valley rumble when I shout the blues
make the whole joint tremble
Lord! when I blow my fuse
but early in the morning
in the early bright
you'll oblige me Lord
If you'd make me white

I would greatly appreciate any information regarding these songs or the people who made them. Thank you!
