Some good cds to check out would be:

The Pat Metheny Group - The Way Up
Thelonius Monk - Monk's Dream
Jaco Pastorius - Jaco Pastorius

I'd also recommend any of Chick Corea's solo piano work.

Miles Davis - Kind of Blue, super relaxing and the best place to start for anyone wanting to get into jazz.

I'd also recommend John Coltrane's My Favorite Things and Return to Forever's Light As a Feather.

Hey another George Benson fan, I don't have the DVD, but I have "Breezin'" and "In Flight" on CD, I know they aren't from his hardcore jazz days but really like both of those albums. I inherited about 12 vinyl albums from my Mom but haven't had time to check them all out. Good to have another jazz fan in the forum.

Martin Medeski(Medesky maybe)and Wood are a pretty good modern jazz group. They use some samples and turntables so it's not really traditional jazz but still worth a listen.
