I'll take a guess Miles Davis' "Kind of Blue" is near the top.

Brubeck's "Time out", & Hancock's "Headhunters".

Of course, it depends on how jazz is defined, although I doubt if the so-called "smooth jazz" albums should qualify.

Anyway, I'd have to agree that "Time Out" had to be one. Miles Davis' "Bitches Brew" may have hit the top five. Stan Getz in one of his Bossa Nova albums with Antonio Jobim is probably in there, as well. Certainly George Benson's "Breezin'". After that, I draw a blank.

Did Herbie Hancock's Possibilities do well? He had all those duets with famous artists, so you'd think it would.

Not as well as one might expect. There's not really much of an audience for Hancock anymore, and frankly, the album was mediocre as far as Hancock goes, anyway. It turns out pop culture ikons don't necessarily bring mainstream audiences running to relatively unfamiliar fare. True, you had a decent amount of freaky jazz buffs raving about it, but that's mostly just for a lack of anything better being released recently.
