True blues, BB King is always a start... then maybe some John Lee Hooker or Muddy Waters

Post The Best Of The Blues

This thread is for all of us here to share a little bit of our own story...in a way. I am looking for posts that tell about the last blues album that actually "moved" you. I mean the one that made tingles run down your spine and you say "I've Got the Blues!" out loud!

Please post the Artist, Album Name and a short review of the music and why it stands out to you.

Thanks,

nixwebo

Playing an instrument and finding your personal genre is the hardest part being a musician, but the one who gave me goosebumps and made me realize that Blues is the music that I'm searching for is the album "Texas Flood" by my guitar hero non other than Steve Ray Vaughan........

I like SRV too, when he released Texas Flood with Double Trouble in 1983 we all knew that he was a great new talent and it is another musical tragedy that he died in his prime. How many more great songs have we missed when we lost him. I'm not the most rabid blues fan but SRV is the main reason I started to pay attention to this genre. RIP SRV and thank you for your musical legacy.

Texas Flood

Pride & Joy

My Favorite SRV Album.

For me it has to be the first time I heard Keb mo, this guy really has it going on, if you want to hear the album that "shivered by timbers" go get his 1994 self titled release. This album sounds like it was written, produced, and sang by a 70 year old blues man, but he was actually rather young. This album was also my introduction to slide guitar, amazing!

I imagine that in 50 years from now this will be a classic, like Robert Johnson's recordings are to us now.

Buddy Guy's "It Feels Like rain"

A seriously powerful track that just blows me away every time I hear it. Its a song I can really relate to, and I wish I could play guitar like Buddy Guy.

Yes, M.Demeanor John Mayer has a lot more going for him than most people know, he is a great blues artist. It is unfortunate that people have to record crappy radio pop to get know, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

If you can get a hold of the Crossroads Music Festival Footage of him you will be blown away. This festival is put on by Clapton every year and let me tell you he doesn't let just anybody play at his show!

Muddy Waters and BB King define guitar blues, and there's always the obvious one's like Clapton. He's played in so many awsome bands (Derek and the Dominos, Cream, etc.)
