OK I have already accepted that enough people are going to say the one and only lame answer so many times that it is going to turn my stomach. So that being said, go ahead and say it is an iPod, but if you are going to be one of the herd at least dignify yourself a little by saying which one/model and why. This will at least let you stand out of the crowd a little.

My favorite to date is the Zen Stone. It's small, functional and easy to use. There are no bells and whistles, heck there isn't any room for bells and whistles. The Zen Stone even comes with a speaker if choose that as an option. Most big players in the mp3 business forget this, for some reason, you think that a speaker would be a given but its not, apparently Apple?
It has great sound quality and is made to travel, if you want to read my complete review of the Zen Stone click the link.

well i dont think Apple wanted to apply speakers to their merchandise because it would have made it seem like every other product, Apple wants to make products that are different. iMac for instance. people seem to think that an iMac is the worst computer in the world compared to a PC but IMO, i think macs are better, more programs. maybe they do have a few bugs to work out but, what merchandise doesnt

Threw past experience I know that there is no arguing with iPod lovers so that in mind, I guess I will agree with you underthetreesandseas.
But on the mac thing, I love linux and mac's are the most popular flavor in today's market so, nothing but love there!

iMac's seem to be getting better now so i've seen. im in a Graphic Arts class and i use Mac's. some of which are more updated thatn the others. I really enjoy them a lot, but sometimes they become a hassle. Maybe its just me, but i personally do like PC's better than Mac's only because of the way they process and work. I'm used to PC's.

Sorry I missed this one, I don't own an i-pod or any other MP3 portable player, I don't like ear-buds myself they give me a headache after a 1/2 hour even at low volume.
I will give in on the point that Mac's are more intuitive than PC's and have some of the coolest interactive multimedia programs, but when a Mac fails(And they do contrary to those asinine commercials Apple is running), you are almost helpless. With my PC I can take it apart completely reassemble it after I fix it and am ready to go, try that with any Apple computer. Apple is second to none as far as proprietary software/hardware is concerned, just as bad as MS. They have even been caught distributing peoples music on their i-tunes site without paying any royalties to the artists. Finally the prices they charge on i-tunes for a compressed version of any song is ridiculous, I only want full albums myself and they should offer me a full WAV copy of the CD I want, buy the single songs at AAC 256KBs if you like but give me the choice for the full WAV version of the CD.(I can order many of the same CD's from a store in California for less including shipping than i-tunes sells the album for.)

i agree, when MAC's are at a failure, it is such a drag, because you have to wait like 40 billion minutes for it to reload, and when you get the rainbow ball of death (mac users know what im talking about) its annoying.

The one big decision that apple has made in the last few years that will help them enter the mainstream market is allowing there OS to run on x86 or intel based processors. This makes it possible to install there OS on any computer, yes even ones that are not make by apple.
This is the first time in history they have given up complete control over there customers and now let them choose to use there hardware or other companies' hardware.

Yeah with some of their programs just to irritate MS, but they still have a lot of corporate arrogance regardless of the OS release. I'll never be an apple convert, however nixwebo I do have i-tunes on my PC, I don't use it much but it is a slick little application.
