Thread: Genre obscurity and fame...

    Default Genre obscurity and fame...

Well this here is my first journal. I will state an obscure or well known genre and talk about some bands. The genre and band in each entry will be different each time, so expect to see power metal twice in a row. Speaking of power metal, let start with that

    Power Metal!
    Blind Guardian
Signature Track(s): Mirror Mirror, Bard's Song, Nightfall

This is an obvious one. I love Blind Guardian's epic presentation of their music. Andre Olberch's obscure tone and Hansi Kurch's amazing vocals blend so well together. And I love their theme of traveling bards. It's like, "Welcome tothe middle ages..." but really it's more like, "Welcome to Middle Earth." they do the books so much justice.

Nice Entry! Lord Grendel is gonna love this. I wont comment on Blind Guardian, since I am not a fan. But I Know others will like them.

That is the beauty of the Journal forum, it is YOUR journal, you say and write whatever you want. Kinda like a diary that we all are allowed to read.

Great start KayalystFactor, I have all of Blind Guardians CD's and "Nightfall in Middle Earth" is my favorite.(I'm a huge Tolkien fan as well so that's no surprise.)

Yeah! Nightfall is one of my all time favorite songs. A Night at The Opera is also a good album.

Wohoo Blind Guardian! I had a Blind Guardian rec but because of conflicting issues I had to delete it, so instead I put a Wizard's and Demon's, (Hansi's side project).

I love them, and Vallhalla is amazing!

Yeah it's Demons and Wizards, with Jon Schaffer (Iced Earth) is another awesome band.

    Thank you Lord Grendel.

Well in my time of being gone from the site, my musical eye has spread far and wide. I took a stop at a local CD store called Homers in search of my next great find. Their not exactly famous but this next band is the heaviest band I've had the pleasure of listening too lately...The only way to describe it's obscure genre is in two words.

    Viking Metal!!!!
    The Sword
Freya, Fire Lances of The Aeicent Hyperzephyerions, White Sea

The Sword is so friggen cool! They do everything right, except the drums lol. I love how the singer sounds like Ozzy, and the guitars create amazing harmonies that make A7X crap their pants. They're like Black Sabbath in their classic aproach, just way faster.

Viking Metal! I saw The Sword in concert when i saw Metallica and Lamb of God last year. I have to be honest, i dont like the vocals that much but i really like everything else about the band. The vocalist doesnt seem like he's putting any motive to his lyrics, therefore it sounds like he's whining half the time.
