Thread: Prekambriums album journal - from 1955 to present

lol.

Allright, so I wanted to make a journal where I present one record for every year from 1955 until the present day.
I will post a record, with links to some tracks and maybe share some words about those records. Maybe 1 pr day or something.
I hope whoever sees this thread will join in and discuss the albums I am posting, that is the point, I want to hear everyones thoughts on these albums!
I will finish it off with my favorite album of all time I guess.

The reason for starting with 1955 is that it was around this time(as far as I know) that the first real album LPs came out. So its a good place to start.

Fantastic compositions led by a fantastic voice.

I gave it a listen, im slightly biased as i have a soft spot for Frank.

Laid back is an understatement, i dont think ive ever heard a more laid back album. In fact, this album is more stoned than i am, and thats not easy. It gave me the same kind of feeling a really great winters day gives me, not christmas just winter. I liked it alot.

Id love to see what Unfan would say about this album.

I get the winter feeling too.
This album has a great atmosphere and I can feel a lot of passion in the music.
One of the nicest albums I know. Definitely a favourite and a great way to start this whole thing off in my opinion.

Would be cool to see Unfans opinion yeah.

Duke Ellington

"Ellington at Newport"

There were a lot of great records released in 1956, and it was extremely hard to choose only one. But I landed on "Ellington at Newport" because that is the best one of that year in my opinon.
This record is fantastic. It's a classic jazz record and pretty much perfect in my opinion. I love every second of it.

I agree Franco, Duke Ellington is amazing.

I didnt give it one listen i gave it two. I can apprieciate the obvious when it comes to this kind of music, but i cant seem to get into it, i start to drift off.

I read a little on this album, apparently it was a very important performace for him and resurrected his career.


Didnt do it for me.

This is another amazing jazz record. A compilation album by Miles Davis. Its probably my favourite jazz record of all time. I dont really know what more to say.
