possibly one of the best rock bands ever, and I noticed there is not a thread for them yet. I thought about putting it into the metal forum but I know there would be alot of crying. what do you guys think old Metallica (Kill Em All - Master of Puppets) or new Metallica (And Justice for All - Death Magnetic)? I personally love all of Metallicas work, but tend to favor their older stuff, it's hard to beat the energy of Kill Em All. | ||

We do have some threads about Metallica, in the Thrash sub-forum, but this one is different so I'll play. Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets, two reasons I voted for Old Metallica. | ||

I like all of their albums except for St.Anger, i like Ride the Lighting, Master of Puppets, Black, and And Justice For All...and maybe a little bit of Death Magnetic. So i'll vote for old metallica because of majority reasons  | ||

yeah those threads are like favorite songs and what not, I don' t think there is a general metallica thread yet. ride the lightning and master of puppets will always be top rock albums in my book. st. anger was alright, with the exception or lars' snare sounding like he was hitting an empty 55gallon drum. and there were no guitar solos on the album. other than that I think it needs more credit than it gets. I will agree that St. Anger had some good things to it, but all in all i don't think it was one of their best, they could have done better. But, it is a Metallica album nonetheless and that gives some credit. | ||

this should be in the metal forum...but w/e. Mainstream appeal be damned, Metallica has and always will be a thrash metal band in my mind. I like their old material best. Everything up to ...and Justice for All is great and I don't think they will ever top those albums. Death magnetic...was meh for me. St. Anger was a disgrace. Black Album was ok. It was the beginning of their mainstream appeal. And the load and reload albums were too southern rocky for my taste. So old metallica ftw.
