If you're into lyrics then some grunge might be in your future..such as alice in chains..or obviously nirvana. I also enjoy type o negative but that might not be what you're looking for.

Talking Heavy metal

I'm partial to heavy metal but I'm more into what some people consider "old" metal ( which is b.s. by the way, there isn't anything old about it ) but what I'd really like to now from the true metal fans out there, what are some newer bands that are worth listening to?

I'm addicted to Machine Head, Chimiera, Lamb of God, Soilwork I can go on and on....If you like what they call "old metal". Try Fear Factory...Its a good transition band to listen to...And they kick ass!!

Porcupine Tree, haven't really heard their music.

try these bands:
arsis, behemoth, nile, decapitated, heaven shall burn, and vital remains.

If you like Behemoth you'd like The Faceless...They sound a lot like them.
