We must have listened to the CD 1,000 times already. We have seen them in Ft Lauderdale and Miami music stores/CD stores - There is also a single "The New Oxygen" which is said to be on the iTunes version ( 2009?) as bonus track ( it is an 8 minute epic song with a 3 minute piano intro that sounds like Phantom Of The Opera ) What is cool is that U dont have to buy the CD without listening first as the band lets all listeners download ( compressed mp3s ) Suffice to say I was a huge Alice in Chains fan so i think MRI is totally awesome - there are echoes of Nirvana, David Bowie and even the Beatles as well. I think the singles on the CD are
Helicopter Head,
The Beautiful and Dangerous, and
Theme From Your Face.
Permanent You is a real nice rock ballad too. A lot of weird almost Primus sounding stuff that contrasts nicely with the pretty harmonies and well crafted songs. I was surprised to see the level of poetry/attention to craft in the lyrics. A lot of the songs sound Kurt Cobain-ish or Layne Staley-ish when U read the lyrics..... curious what any of you here in this forum thinks. I am a newcomer here so I don't really know what type of music everyone here likes....
Here's a cool quote from Byron Stevens of THE NEW YORK POST to help describe MRI the best I think LOL!!
[MRI] Art remains a neighborhood fave.
Songs sound better 2nd time around, but without the lyric sheet I wouldnt know what the f((@@D is being said.
Oh, well, Jagger once intimated that Stones lyrics werent meant to be directly understood..theres that.
MRI does kinda make me want to slit my wrists for no good reason, and theres that market, cool.
