Arlo Guthrie Detours to Appear at Roll Over Dover Music & Arts Festival
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - DOVER, TN --- Legendary folk songwriter and guitarist Arlo Guthrie is making room in his packed summer tour to play Roll Over Dover Music Festival in Dover, TN, Labor Day Weekend. The sizeable detour between shows in Australia and New York is a tribute to the one-of-a-kind creative energy Roll Over Dover represents.
Roll Over Dover organizers are concentrating on bringing some of the monoliths of modern grassroots music together with the hottest up-and-coming talent from across the country. The hope is to nourish independent artists and create a venue where music-lovers can bypass big-box promoters to choose the music they want to hear.
Arlo Guthrie is a walking example of the people’s power to select great music. He burst onto the counter-culture scene in 1967 with “Alice’s Restaurant” and has continued to be a presence on the independent music scene ever since.
Arlo is the eldest son of Woody Guthrie and grew up with family friends such as Leadbelly and Pete Seeger. In the ‘60s Guthrie helped foster a commitment to social consciousness and activism. Today he continues the family tradition of inspiring change by singing songs that real people can relate to.
Rroll Over Dover is a call-back to the type of festivals Arlo Guthrie was playing in the 1960s. This festival represents a cross-section of genres, ideals and pop culture from around the country. It is a grassroots way of sharing new talent with the masses and shining a beacon of hope for the next generation of popular music.
RRoll Over Dover Music & Arts Festival is dedicated to celebrating musicians and music lovers with three days of affordable camping and live performance. The Dover, Tennessee (Stewart County) campgrounds open Wednesday, August 27th with performances August 29-31. Tickets are on sale now. For more details or to purchase tickets, visit
