Default how to plug a mic into guitar amp?

Hi! We all know that a lot of people plug a vocal mic into a guitar amp. I don't have a PA nor do I have the money or inclination to buy one anytime soon. There's always one available for the modest gigs I do play, I just wanna be able to practice with vocals using a guitar amp. Of course, the cable I have connecting my mic only plugs into the input things on PAs, which are much different from those on guitar amps. What is an affordable convertor type thing I can use to plug into a guitar amp for home practice? Is there such a thing?

You need an Female XLR to Male 1/4" jack...any music store will have one, or Circuit City (the Source).

Or you can make your self a cable...Female XLR on one end, Male 1/4" on the other.

Either way should be under $10.

So a male 1/4" jack will let me plug into any normal guitar amp? Thanks, this seems to be the answer I'm looking for.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a noob soundwise, just a clueless guitar/bass guy!

Yes...the 1/4" male jack plugs into the guitar amp...and the mic cord will plug into the female XLR on the other side of it....I always find them at The Source.

^^I much preferred them when they were Radio Shack, but you are right if you need connectors and adapters they are almost always my first choice.

Not sure how it is at your one LG...but ours is exactly the same...all the did was change the sign...they still have the battery club, they still send me flyers, still have just about all the doohickies I need...and will even replace certain batteries 3 times for an extra $3, which really saves me money...

Only thing I noticed was the Tandy brand is now Nexxtech, but similar in quality....

    What changed at yours?

I got it at The Source thanks to you. It cost about 25 bucks though!
