I can't think of any good violin players... other than Charlie Daniels and that chick from Celtic woman.... And there really good. I was just wondering if anyone could hook me up with some great players?

Nash The Slash - FM
Kansas has a wicked Vio player (not sure name off hand)
Paz Lenchantin - Solo and A Perfect Circle
Ashley MacIsaac (good, but a bit of a sellout)
I'll post more when I think of them.

Cool, I forgot about Kansas... was it Robby Steinhardt?
I'll check out A Perfect Circle, I've heard of them but never got around to find them.
Thanks Muzoid!
Secret Garden---they are also a Celtic Group--but decent.
Mrs Amys Music
Yup...that's the guy.....
I saw Vanessa Mae in concert and she was and amazing violinist, her music is so inspiring.
Andre Rieu is my personal favorite.
Support bacteria, it's the only culture some people have.
you've got to get better,
said, it's all in your head,
we could live through these letters
or forget it altogether,
see the months they don't matter
its the days I can't take
when the hours move to minutes
and I'm seconds away
My favorite is Catya Maré, she is NOT a fiddle player, but more of a violin singer, hauntingly beautiful music...google her name and you´ll find more than 340,000 entries....
Yes, Andre Rieu knows a thing or two about violin. Great for the classics - there's not too many though that make the transition to commercial music though is there? What about Nigel Kennedy (British) I suppose he'd come close - goes on stage (to play classical stuff) with a punk hair cut - but I think he's made forays into commercial stuff. I even think he was responsible for putting his recording of Vivaldi's Four Seasons on the top-play list on English commercial radio for a few months running a few years ago.
Acopcalyptica is like a rock band that uses violins. Should give them a look aswell
Depends on what kinda music you like Bucket. If you're into jazz that brings a number of other players into the mix, from Jean Luc Ponty all the way back to Stephane Grappelli. Those early recordings that Grappelli did with Django Reinhardt are true jazz classics.
Yep, forgot about Stephane Grappelli, truly some fun stuff on all those recordings with Django Reinhardt. I suppose Yehudi Menuin is worth a mention as well, but there are many highly talented violinists that are Jewish too (classical genre) and 'on-the-spot' now can't think of many, except Joshua Bell !! LOL - Will add them as I think of them!
