What song has these lyrics? Is it an REM song or some other group or band?

Okay, here's the deal. I used to hear this rather famous song at ballgames, dances, radio, etc. It's really pretty well known, probably alternative and likely from the mid 80s to mid 90s. I don't know many of the lyrics but what i can remember goes something like this: (something, something, something) hey ey ey! (something something, something) hey ey ey! This part refers to the chorus, and truthfully it's probably a really obvious song. Me being a classic rock fan, however, I like the song but probably don't listen to the artist all that often. I thought it sounded like Michael Stipe singing but I could be dead wrong. The years could be different, too. Again, not sure. All I known is that "hey ey ey" part is in the chorus. Can anybody help me? It's been bugging me forever!
