Hello Guys!
Going back to the thread title; does indie, pop, post punk, and rock depend on the band? or does it just suck?
To say something sucks, depends on an individuals musical tastes. Does the music depend on the band, absolutely. Any piece of music can be poorly played and orchestrated and visa versa.
But to pump out music just for the sole purpose of reaching the mainstream of listeners is, unfortunately, what the music industry has become. If no one is listening, then no one buys. It is us, the listeners, who are getting short changed. This is why I love all the music recommendations we get in the forums. It is impossible to monitor all the radio stations to be exposed to all sorts of music.
So keep up the recommendations! And don't worry, music will always be here as long as we have sticks to beat together as MeMyMine put it

It definitely depends on the band. There are so many very crappy ones, but then there's a couple really amazing ones. Don't be completely biased and say it all sucks.

Meh is right!
It really depends on the person on how he/she appreciate/band the music. We came from different countries, listening different music. So its very understandable that we have different likes in music.
The only problem with you is that your "generalizing" it.It sucks for you but not for others.

Everyone has their own way of expressing their emotions in their lyrics. If you listen to Thursday, he sings about abstract things, however, they all have meaning. They all tell a story. They may be in metaphors and what not but they get the story across.By critcizing someone elses work, you are closing off part of your mind and not enjoying music for what it is.
If you love music, then you will look at the structure, the sound, the formula.

This is a discussion with an extended shelf life that is for sure, lol. I find that no matter how hard I try to find something to like in certain genre's of music that I just can't get into them.(I don't condemn them or criticize people who do like them after all it's their choice to spend their valuable time anyway they like.  ) Fortunately as you have all pointed out this is a very complex and personal thing that each of us decide for ourselves.

I have a wide diversity in my collection to Nricklee, but some genre's are just too hardcore for me. I go as far as Opeth, and Iced Earth in the metal world for an example, but I can't do Meshuggah or Cannibal Corpse they are just too much for me. But that is just my own taste.
