Default What music genre is more about making money.... Rap/Hip Hop or Pop music?

In other words is Rap Music more of a business in that it manufactures crappy music for profit or pop music. 50 Cent or Britney Spears? You make the call. I say Rap because 95% of it sucks. I mean did you hear that song "MySpace Freak by C-side?" who are these clowns?

well NOWADAYS its about the same, i always belived pop was just made for making money and rap was for telling life stories and what if situations. now its just a label for these one hit onder club songs that get old real quick.

You are making the assumption that rap sucks because of what you've heard of mainstream rap. You cannot say (or anybody else) that a genre sucks because you have not heard all the music in that genre.

There was a time when it was pop, but now the tables have turned & its definitely rap. Real rap & hip hop died when the 90's decade was over.

I'm not sure.. I don't think you can say it sucks in general though.. And also i think that both genres make a lotta money.. And i'd pick 50 Cent over Britney Spears.. I mean.. Geez.. 50 might be bad but Britney is just outta the question..

I've never heard that song "Myspace freak" but i'm gonna try to get it.. Must be funny..

Pop. period. Especially because pop has evolved from so many different genres because it needs to stay popular. Most rap on the radio is pop anyways because that is what is Pop right now. Pop just means popular and the "Urban" sound whether it be rapping or singing is what is popular. However, there are rappers out there that don't care about the money and just do it for fun, even though most of them suck.
