I was wondering what distortion effects people use for playing Punk music? Also what do you guys suggest is the recommended guitar and amp for playing Punk?

use a lot of gain so it sounds more raw

some distortion on the guitar.
a little bit of reverb on the vocals.
also use compression (at least 4:1) on the vocals so you can shout/scream/sing loud without clipping the PA.
