metallica is thrash metal...thrash always goes with high speed riffs and solos...and all the other bands you've mentioned are nu-metal except for chilli peppers(they're rock n' roll)...

Mettalica used to be speed/thrash metal pre-Black Album. Black album is more pop-metal than speed or thrash. Korn, Saliva and SOAD and are Nu-Metal. Grunge is just a style of alternative rock. Kurt Cobain created grunge by fusing hardcore punk and seventies rock influences. Pearl Jam is also another example of grunge.

Green Day is Pop-Punk. The Chili Peppers are a mix of Funk and Punk. At least they used to be.
