Post Difference between hiphop and rap

Everybody goes on about they listen to hiphop! Piles, lil wayne, and all the other ppl in that group are rappers,Lupe fisaco, talib kwali,ect..... are
MC's(hiphop artist) Plz get it right ppl.
When u listen to rap it is alway a cars, money, drugs and that other nonsense, but when u listen to hiphop and u listen closely, u can hear the messages they are sending to the world.
"Remember rapper lyrics are mainly illeagal,MC's use lyrics to upleft they ppl!"

I didnt really understand much of that... So rap is when they talk about crap and hip hop is when they address decent issues?

I'm confused...

Hello Vietboy001!

I think if you left out all the chat room/text messaging "lingo" you would come across better to the readers.

I think this will turn out to be a good debate! The difference between hip hop and rap? let me see <scratches head>
Since rapping is speaking in rhyme and this is an element of hip hop, too, it can be very confusing. I believe that hip hop is more of a culture in music. It is a beat, but then so is rap.
In my opinion, the differences are vague. Although, hip hop is a better choice of music for dance versus rap. I am not real fond of some of the lyrics in rap, but not all lyrics depict drugs, ***, and violence. For me to give a really good description of the differences, you would have to give me some choices to compare.

I just dont have the answers!

Magic

The answer is much easier here. Rap is a musical aspect of the general hip-hop subculture.

Ok, i think i understand now. I personally dislike the majority of rap and hip hop. In my opinion half the time it doesn't make sense.

With all this extra stressin
The question I wonder is after death, after my last breath
When will I finaly get to rest? Through this supression
they punish the people that's askin questions
And those that possess, steal from the ones without possesions
The message I stress: to make it stop study your lessons
Don't settle for less - even the genius asks-es questions
Be grateful for blessings
Don't ever change, keep your essence
The power is in the people and politics we address
Always do your best, don't let the pressure make you panic
And when you get stranded
And things don't go the way you planned it
Dreamin of riches, in a position of makin a difference
Politicians and hypocrites, they don't wanna listen
If I'm insane, it's the fame made a brother change
It wasn't nuttin like the game
It's just me against the world
